Antonio Conte Leaves Tottenham Hotspur After Criticizing Spurs

Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways by mutual consent after the coach criticized the club and described his players as "selfish" during a post-match press conference.

Tottenham Hotspur who are fighting for a top-four finish have replaced Antonio Conte with the club's assistant coach Cristian Stellini who was in charge of the team when Spurs beat Manchester City on February 5.

Stellini will remain in charge of the team as the acting head coach for Spurs' remaining 10 Premier League games which means that the club won't appoint a new coach until the end of this season. He will be assisted by the club's former midfielder Ryan Mason.

The club's chairman Daniel Levy said, "We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place."

"We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our club and amazing, loyal supporters."

In his final game in command on March 18, Conte scolded his team and the club severely after Spurs blew a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 against struggling Southampton.

During the game's post-match press conference, a furious Conte who argued that the club's culture makes the players "selfish" was quoted as saying: "Tottenham's story is this: 20 years there is this owner and they never won something. Why?"

"Until now I try to hide the situation but not now because I repeat, I don't want to see what I have seen today because this is unacceptable and also unacceptable for the fans."

Loud Views recalls that Tottenham Hotspur appointed Antonio Conte in November 2021 following Nuno Espirito Santo's dismissal.

Before he joined Spurs, he won league titles with Chelsea, Juventus, and Inter Milan which means that Spurs are the only elite side he has coached for 16 months without winning any title.

With nine losses, four ties, and 28 league games played this season, Tottenham's problems have persisted, raising concerns about the team's playing approach.

During the 0-0 draw with Milan that ended in a 1-0 loss on an aggregate and doomed the team to another season without a trophy, Conte's Spurs endured raucous jeers.

Since the Levy-led ownership group took over the club in 2001, Tottenham has had 11 different managers and only one title, the League Cup in 2008.
