Easiest Way to get your Tax Identification Number from the comfort of your home

It is no more news that starting from next year, 2020, Nigerians will have to be in possession of the Tax Identification Number (TIN) before they can be allowed to make bank transactions.

In order to salvage our people from the burden of running helter-skelter, here is the simplest way to get the TIN.

TIN is made readily available by the government FOR FREE, that is until their website is overloaded and crashes.

Contrary to general perception, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER FOR IT IF YOU ALREADY HAVE YOUR Bank Verification Number (BVN). Your BVN will be used to generate your TIN for INDIVIDUALS.

IF YOU'RE A REGISTERED BUSINESS, then your TIN will be generated using your Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration number.

Simply click this link https://tinverification.jtb.gov.ng/ and follow the steps to know your TIN.

INDIVIDUALS are required to enter their date of Birth, BVN or phone number registered to their BVN.

BUSINESSES are required to enter their CAC registration number.

And just like that, you'd see your TIN.

INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER

• Step 1: Select your Date of Birth.
• Step 2:Select your preferred search criteria from the Select Criteria Dropdown-TIN or NIN or BVN or Registered Phone Number
• Step 3: Provide the appropriate value based on the search criteria in Step 2 above
• Step 4. Confirm you are not a robot by checking the reCAPTCHA Box
• Step 5: Click the Search button

NON INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER

• Step 1: Select the Organization’s Date of Incorporation
• Step 2: Select your preferred search criteria from the Select Criteria Dropdown-TIN or CAC registration Number or Registered Phone Number. CAC registration number should be typed in this format: BN1234 or IT1234 or RC1234.
• Step 3: Provide the appropriate value based on the search criteria in Step 2 above.
• Step 4: Confirm you are not a robot by checking the reCAPTCHA Box.
• Step 5: Click the Search button.

TAKE NOTE.

After seeing your TIN, use the box beside the 'send email' button on https://tinverification.jtb.gov.ng/ to send BOTH YOUR TIN AND YOUR TIN CERTIFICATE for safekeeping to the valid email address you will enter into the box. YES, IT WORKS as simple as that!

Then click on PRINT, and your TIN certificate will be generated in a PDF format for download. The certificate, you will download and print is to be shown on demand especially during bank transaction.

Note: Only those who existing records with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) can enjoy this service.
